Michael Servetus was a Spanish physician and theologian
Born in Villanueva, Aragon, in 1511, he was a true Renaissance Man, publishing On the Errors of the Trinity at the age of 20.
He was also the first European to correctly describe the function of pulmonary circulation.
He enjoyed the distinction of being persecuted by both Catholics and Protestants in an age when the two groups agreed on hardly anything. The Calvinists and the Catholics both wanted him dead, but the Calvinists got to him first. On October 27, 1553, he was burned at the stake "atop a pyre of his own books."
